The Daily Express Five-a-Side was a national tournament that ran from 1967/68 to 1986/87.
Competitors were mostly English league teams with occasional invites to Scottish teams.
The annual event was held at Wembley Arena with crowds reaching 10,000.
The 4 minute each way games were fast and action packed. No back passes or balls over shoulder height. Penalty shoot outs for drawn games.
Norwich City were one of 16 teams that competed the last time the tournament was held on 26 November 1986. Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United also featured.
It was the Canaries only ever appearance in this tournament and they were to be victorious with a comprehensive 5-0 thrashing of Manchester City in the final. Trevor Putney and Ian Culverhouse both scored twice. Dale Gordon got the other.
