This Norwich City shirt, shorts and socks are from the 1985 Milk Cup final at Wembley; worn on the day by Asa Hartford.
Historic Triumph
The Canaries beat Sunderland 1-0 to win the competition for the second time.
Hartford was involved in the game’s decisive moment. His shot was deflected off Sunderland’s Gordon Chisholm in the 46th minute. It was City’s first ever goal and first ever win at Wembley.
Hartford only played for Norwich in the 1984/85 season making 40 appearances and scoring 5 goals.
He would have stayed for longer but City’s disastrous end of season form following their Wembley success resulted in relegation to Division Two and he chose to move on.
Marvellous career
He had a marvellous playing career. His other clubs included West Bromwich Albion, Manchester City twice (where he won the League Cup in 1976) and Everton.
He also won 50 caps for Scotland including appearances at the 1978 and 1982 World Cups.
Wembley shirts

Within my collection of Norwich City shirts, I now have examples from each of the Canaries three appearances for the League Cup / Milk Cup finals at Wembley; 1973, 1975 and 1985.
It’s great to see the shirts from the finals together. Each is very special within the club’s history.
